Wickham Type 18's

This car was located at the Homestead Park complex in Port Augusta but was recently moved to the National Railway Museum in Adelaide. It is understood to be the only Type 18 built for Australia still around.

It was owned by the Commonwealth Railways, most likely used on the Trans Australia, and Marree lines.

The vehicle is powered by a Perkins diesel engine.

The car was one of three built by Wickhams Australian Representative, MIP (serial number 9644 through 9646). They were accompanied by two trailers (Builders numbers 9647 and 9648).

Mount Newman Mines also made use of a number of the Type 18's.
