These photos were taken at the TulkaCrossing. The only major crossing on the route, and the only crossingfitted with protective Devices. in the last years of operations,trains were protected by flagmen. The local hoons cost BHP a fortuneby shooting out the lights!
For those who wondered where the big bush fireswere, it was to the left and ahead of this section.

Looking West to Coffins
Although in its day it was probably one of the best heavy haullines in SA, the proper title for the line was a "tramway". Only theGovernment could operate a "railway".
