These photos were taken at the Tulka
Crossing. The only major crossing on the route, and the only crossing
fitted with protective Devices. in the last years of operations,
trains were protected by flagmen. The local hoons cost BHP a fortune
by shooting out the lights!
For those who wondered where the big bush fires were, it was to the left and ahead of this section.

Looking West to Coffins
Although in its day it was probably one of the best heavy haul lines in SA, the proper title for the line was a "tramway". Only the Government could operate a "railway".
